Current Solar Panels

Presto technicians applying waterproofing solution to current solar panel installation

THE BUILDING

Current Solar installed GE solar panels in parking lots up and down the east coast. The solar panels provide shade for cars in the parking lots and power for the adjacent businesses. This is an exciting new opportunity for commercial building owners. Covered parking is helpful for your tenants whether it is snowing or a bright sunny day. The solar panels help offset power bills throughout the year.

THE CHALLENGE

After the panels were installed into their metal frames onsite, it became apparent that the systems were not watertight. Water was leaking under the panel at the frame joint which was inconvenient for people using the parking lot. More importantly, during winter months, icicles began to form under the panels creating a potential for damaging vehicles and hurting people below. We needed to find a way to waterproof the solar panel structures in a way that didn’t damage them or diminish their effectiveness.

THE SOLUTION

Our waterproofing experts tested several methods to find the correct solution for the water intrusion problem. We then applied the appropriate caulking to all the joints and coatings to the appropriate surfaces at multiple parking lots up and down the east coast.

THE RESULT

Working with a company to perfect the installation of such advanced technology is rewarding. Especially when this technology may change the future of commercial buildings forever. We are proud to be part of the change and are grateful we were contacted to help keep the people using these parking lots safe and dry.

We are always looking for our next project. If your commercial building needs waterproofing services, call us at 1-800-785-9927 or Request a Quote.
