THE BUILDING
Bromley Hall is a 14-story high rise building located on the campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign, IL. The building is a private housing facility for university students. After thorough research into competing companies, the owners contacted Presto for their superior waterproofing and restoration services.
THE CHALLENGE
Bromley Hall was completed in the 1960s and the EIFS system was severely deteriorated. There were numerous cracks and voids in the system that were allowing water to leak inside the building, which would eventually wreak havoc if left unrepaired. Presto was given a tight timeline to complete the project while the students were on summer break.
THE SOLUTION
The team began by repairing the substrate, then removed and replaced the caulking located at all the window perimeters and control joints including EIFS to metal, EIFS to EIFS and stone to stone. Next, the team applied an elastomeric coating to the entire building which not only waterproofed the building but also modernized the look of the building’s exterior.
THE RESULT
Presto technicians were able to safely and effectively complete the project in the given time frame, guaranteeing the students would come back from summer break to a new and improved place to live, study, relax and connect to campus life. With proper maintenance, the owners can rest assured that their building will not require additional restoration in the future and will continue to be protected from water intrusion.
