The Building
Darden is a restaurant company featuring a portfolio of differentiated brands that include Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, Yard House, The Capital Grille, Seasons 52, Bahama Breeze and Eddie V’s.
The Challenge
The managers at Darden’s headquarters contacted Presto Restoration because the building was experiencing water leakage and the facade was covered in stains on the precast and the window glass. The water leakage was caused by holes throughout the control joint caulking as well as shrinkage and degradation of the caulking throughout the building’s facade.
Special care needed to be taken during the project to protect pedestrian walkways and ensure the safety of the building’s 1,000 employees. There were also solar panels located on the building’s roof that needed to be avoided while rigging the swing stages.
The Solution
The Presto team handled the pedestrian walkways and solar panels with care and ingenuity, resulting in no incidents or project setbacks.
To restore the building’s precast and remove the stains, Presto technicians used Presto Stone Restore CB2 & Stone Restore HD. Once the restoration portion was complete, Presto LeachStop was applied to the facade to waterproof, seal and protect it.
The next step was to restore the stained windows on the Darden HQ building. To restore the glass to a like-new condition, the crew utilized Presto’s Glass ReSurfacer Final Polish, part of Presto’s Glass ReSurfacer System. After the glass was professionally restored, the Presto Glass Defender MD was applied to waterproof and protect it from being severely stained in the future. To finalize the waterproofing of the building’s facade, the Presto team removed and replaced all caulking on both the East and West end caps of the office building.
The Result
The managers of the building couldn’t be happier with the results of the restoration and waterproofing project. The building facade was left watertight and the glass reflected the sky like the day it was installed. With proper maintenance, Darden HQ will never again need to restore the facade.
